Bio
Residing in the Okanagan region of British Columbia, Canada, David Tocher (pronounced “talker”) is an award-winning, critically-acclaimed horror author. In 2025, he received the Literary Titan Gold Book Award for his novel Spider Seeds in the category of Fiction. In numerous fiction and non-fiction anthologies, his work has appeared alongside renowned authors such as Kelley Armstrong, Tanith Lee, Stephen Spignesi, Richard Chizmar, Robin Furth, Bev Vincent, Graham Masterton, Ray Garton, and more.
In 2023, Next Chapter published Letters from a Dead World, Tocher’s collection of short stories with an introduction by Gothic-horror icon Nancy Kilpatrick. In 2019, Tocher’s anthology Canadian Dreadful garnered high praise from David Morrell, the esteemed author of First Blood. Morrell described it as a “harrowing tour of the northern landscape that will leave you both dazzled and terrified.”
Tocher’s personal essay entitled I’m Gonna Scare the Hell Out of You…And That’s a Promise is featured in Stephen King Dollar Baby: The Book by Anthony Northrup. Furthermore, Tocher’s opinion essay, He is the Doorway: Stephen King’s Fiction as a Gateway to Classic Literature, can be found in Northrup’s Stephen King Dollar Baby: The Sequel.
Tocher is an Associate Producer for several motion pictures, including the 2023 remake of Spider Baby, or The Maddest Story Ever Told, starring horror icons Ron Chaney and Brinke Stevens; Dawn Fields’ acclaimed anthology of short films entitled The Edge of Her Mind, showcasing the talents of women filmmakers and featuring the renowned Lance Henriksen from Aliens and Near Dark; and Beyond the Gates of Hell, also starring Brinke Stevens. When he’s not writing or exploring literary classics, he enjoys the unique charm of B-movie horror films and watching a good baseball game.
